Annual DoD Modeling and Simulation Awards
Awards are presented annually to Department of Defense (DoD) teams or individuals for their outstanding achievements during the previous calendar year in the development or application of models and simulations within the Department. The DoD M&S Awards for Excellence highlight the impact of modeling and simulation upon the DoD by recognizing people and teams for their excellence and innovation in developing, improving or using M&S.
The central award criterion is the contribution to the implementation of the DoD M&S Strategic Vision.
All individuals, teams, or organizations - DoD civilian employees and active and reserve duty Service members - of the DoD are eligible for nomination.
The awards program was initiated by the M&S CO (then the Defense Modeling and Simulation Office (DMSO)) in 1998 on behalf of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (USD(AT&L)).
The National Training and Simulation Association (NTSA) (www.trainingsystems.org) sponsors a corresponding set of non-DoD awards for industry, academia and other government M&S practitioners.
Awards, both DoD and non-DoD, are presented at the annual DoD M&S Conference.
