Level One tests should be self-administered by RTI developers to determine when their product is ready for Level Two testing. They should do this before they register for RTI verification. All tests for IEEE 1516 RTIs use the same Federation Object Model Document Data (FDD). Each test gives a sequence of operations to be performed by two federates and the expected result. For the purpose of these tests, each federate (whether joined or not) is assigned a letter: A or B. This letter should not be confused with a joined federates type or handle. There are two types of statements found in a test: actions and observations. An action gives one or more federate letters and the name of a service invocation by that federate. An observation states what must be true for a given federate at that point in the test. Unless explicitly stated, a service invocation should not result in an exception. Service parameters not specified in the test are either optional parameters which should not be supplied or are parameters not relevant to the test.
