The DoD Common M&S Standards Process is based on the application of three fundamental evaluation, management and coordination concepts - Nominate, Evaluate and Advocate - for vetting M&S standards. It is organized into seven stages with individual steps within each stage that ensure all aspects of these three key concepts are fully addressed. Essential to the full adoption and use of the Process is the capability to automate the online submission, storage, tracking, evaluation and distribution of each proposed standard from the time it is submitted through the stages of its evaluation and approval. The DoD Standards Vetting Tool (DSVT) is intended to address this need, and its primary purpose is to provide a cohesive environment and information system that could be utilized by all DoD M&S standards projects.
